Philips (or more accurately, the current brand owner TP Vision) has announced the Philips Century product line, celebrating the company’s 100-year history in audio innovation.
TP Vision introduces the Philips Century series with five audio products, each celebrating the brand’s century-long role as a pioneer in the audio world. According to the company: ‘Since the 1920s, Philips has played a key role in consumer radio, contributing crucial innovations such as the Miniwatt Radio Tube and the first Pentode tube in 1925, still cherished by audiophiles today. The first Philips radio, model 2501, soon followed. In the 1930s and 1940s, Philips introduced groundbreaking radios, and the iconic Philetta series debuted in the 1950s, remaining a collector’s favorite to this day.
Throughout its history, Philips Audio has been at the forefront of audio technology, from innovations in vinyl to introducing the compact cassette, CD, DAB radio, DVD, and SACD. Philips was also among the first to offer consumers an internet-connected streaming hi-fi system’.
The Philips Century series focuses on key product categories like vinyl, CD, radio, and headphones.
