The manufacturer reports that their newly announced Hegel H400 integrated streaming amplifier is a fine mid-range option.

The amplifier stage of the new Hegel H400 is a Class A/B model delivering a maximum power of 250 watts per channel at 8 ohms. Additionally, it boasts a damping factor of 4000, which, according to the manufacturer, ensures tight control over your speakers. And that in turn should result in precise and dynamic sound reproduction. The DAC is based on the one found in Hegel’s flagship H600, ensuring bit-perfect reproduction without upsampling.

Automatic Input Selection

Regarding streaming capabilities, the Hegel H400 supports services such as Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, AirPlay 2, Google Cast, and it is Roon Ready. The new Hegel Control app, available for iOS and Android, allows you to manage the system seamlessly. A noteworthy feature is the H400’s ability to detect which input is active and automatically switch to it. Input options include XLR, unbalanced RCA (x2), BNC and coax S/PDIF, 3 x TOSLINK, and USB. Vinyl enthusiasts are also catered for with the included phono input.

The Hegel H400 is priced at €6995.
