The new Rotel DX-5 is a highly versatile device: a DAC, headphone amplifier, power amplifier, and preamplifier all in one.

With the DX-5, Rotel adds a second model to its DX line. The unit can serve as the foundation for a compact, high-quality hi-fi system. It’s essentially an integrated amplifier, offering a maximum output power of 2 x 33 watts at 4 ohms (2 x 15 watts at 8 ohms). On top of that, it features a preamplifier and a DAC, making it a complete package. For fans of the Roon ecosystem, the DX-5 is Roon-compatible, and it also includes Bluetooth with aptX HD and AAC support. That makes wireless streaming from for example your phone or laptop possible.

The D/A converter in this versatile little device, is based on an ESS DAC chip, delivers PCM audio up to 32-bit/384 kHz and supports DSD up to DSD 4x (11.2 MHz). DoP (DSD over PCM) up to 2x (5.6 MHz) is also an option. Thanks to an HDMI ARC connection, the DX-5 fits perfectly into a setup alongside your TV.

Luckily, the Rotel DX-5 also relatively affordable, with a price tag of €1,499. It will be available starting early next month in either silver or black finishes.
