We also connect our Sonnet Morpheus unbalanced to the Moon. Because the gain on the Aqua La Scala is slightly higher, we level the inputs. A delightful feature on the Moon. Now we can switch flawlessly between the two inputs, and it soon becomes clear that the Aqua La Scala goes further. A painful observation, but also a logical one when you know that the La Scala costs twice as much. With the Aqua La Voce S2, the Morpheus could still keep pace. With the Aqua La Scala … not so much. It wins almost across the board except perhaps in the bass area.Â
For whom
If you want to appreciate this d/a converter, you should already have some experience with stand-alone dacs. If the intention is to be touched by music, to give color to music (no coloration), then Aqua is an excellent choice. If we take a look at the competition, think DCS, MSB, Weiss, Totaldac or Grimm, the price tag suddenly starts to be not so bad. Do you want to be inside the music and hear everything on the file, CD or stream? And be carried away by the music at the same time. Then the Aqua La Scala is a very nice starting point and for many perhaps an ending point. This is a dac for the serious enthusiast who wants to make the jump from good to very good.

Hello,
I appreciate your review. I have the Morpheous and considering the Pasithea and La Scala. Are you able to give a comparison sonic wise between the two units?
