The test set-up
Contents

We have used the Audioquest William Tell Silver and ZERO in various systems. The amplification and speakers have remained the same, but the sources have changed. In addition, we have burned in the Audioquest William Tell ZERO in our cinema with the DALI Phantom 280S.
The main system consists of:
- Pass Labs XP-12
- Bryston 4B SST3
- Focal Sopra No1
- Metrum Acoustics Pavane and Ambre
- Mains Cabling from Audioquest
- Filtering of Isotek (Titan EVO3) and Kemp (Powerstrip 8plus)
- Aurender A30 (review)
- Denon DCD-A110 (review)
We use both our NAS and services as well as CDs as a source.
The new series have a left and right cable. This is not so much because of the differences between the cables, but more because of the ‘roll-up direction’ of the cable. They are rather stiff, so forcing is not an option. The cable has to fall well: hence left and right.
Incidentally, we hope that Audioquest improved the plug construction slightly. At the office they still sometimes let loose… And these seem to be the same plugs. Now we use the cables a lot more intensively, so it may not be a problem for you at all.
