The Driade Model 2S is a speaker unlike any other. Arnold Heres says so himself. So not our words. However, we see neat results in our in-room measurement. The windowed measurement doesn’t show anything crazy at all. The response is evenly distributed. The bass level picks up nicely when we set the time-window a bit wider. In short: a neat, neutral tuned speaker.

Distortion is not ultra-low, but all under 1% which is our own accaptable limit. The mid and high is very clean according to the measurements. And is also the finding in the listening test. The Driade Model 2S is an easy speaker for any amplifier. The two peaks in impedance (bass) are not a real problem. We don’t see any dips and an average of around 7 Ohms. Neat.

Conclusion

The Driade Model 2S is not a speaker that shouts out at you ‘Yo, I’m here! Listen to me!’. They are simply too refined to holler at you. The Model 2S is an agile speaker which quickly responds to dynamic passages or sharp attacks like a fierce hit on a snare drum. They sound clear, but never tiring. They like rhythm and are able to swing, but the sound never becomes greasy or abrasive. They keep your attention on the music with their open and pure soundstage, which is rock solid and expands out wide in front of you. Their clarity enables you to hear the music in all detail, but without losing the musicality in between the notes. The Model 2 has set the bar high. The Model 2S crosses that bar with grace and a wide margin.
