Normally we have a page outlining what we used for the test. No need to do that now, because with a pair of PSB Alpha IQ you’re just set. We mainly streamed via the BluOS app, but should you want to use Roon, you can do that too. Or perhaps Spotify Connect … the world of streaming is at your feet with BluOS.
Fine sound
It’s pretty clear that PSB wants to appeal to a wide audience. The PSB Alpha IQ is in no way intrusive. The reproduction is calm, soft and quite round and unctuous. Warm? Yes… a little. But it’s certainly not too colored or tuned to impress very much. Everyone likes a little cream in their tomato soup right?
But let’s be clear: those who want ultra-transparent reproduction, or are looking for a speaker that can pull every fiber out of the music, better leave this speaker system alone. That’s not what this PSB offers.
With the Alpha IQ, PSB offers a very compact speaker system that feels perfectly at home in an average living room. Nice next to the TV to significantly improve the sound – this is really an ideal pair for the TV – and besides that also to play music. The integration of BluOS makes that very easy of course.
