DALI Phantom 280S

The set-up

The DALI Phantoms will be in our AV-setup. Which consists of an Illusonic IAP-8 AV processor (and yes, we also measure with it), a B + K 7-channel power amplifier (review to follow), our ultimate audio PC now tuned for video (with KODI 18) and cabling including Audioquest. Projection goes with our Optoma 4K laser beamer.

We’ve tried several things. Of course video – we’ve watched several films, including X-Men, Matrix, Ghost in the Shell and I Am Legend – but also live concerts. We also listened to music to see how well the Phantom knows how to do that. There is a substantial difference in music and video playback. Films often require more dynamics. And music requires more refinement and placement. We haven’t met a set that can do both perfectly yet.
