Measurements Naim 200 Classic
We measured the NSC222 and the NAP250 separately and together. We also measured with and without the NPX300. That difference is very small in basic measurements. However, it is very audible. In short, we would have to look deeper to find out what the differences are due to.
We see a noise floor of around -110dB. If we measure the NSC222 separately, we see that the noise floor drops to -130dB approximately. And that’s with the volume almost open (at 75). The NAP250 noise is around -110dB. The crazy thing is that we see a lot of harmonics there when we connect the Prism via XLR. With the NSC222 in front of it, that is completely gone. That can only be the result of the pseudo balanced setup.
The NAP250 achieves its power output nicely. We measure 101 watts into 8 Ohms and 175 into 4 Ohms at the tipping point. At 1% that will indeed be 190 watts.
Distortion at 1 watt is low at about 0.016%. It peaks at 0.024% THD N. Neat. All in all good measurements that are also fairly in line with what Naim communicates.
Interestingly, the pseudo balanced setup works fine within the Naim ecosystem, but can cause some issues outside of it.
