Measurements Naim NAIT 50
Naim does have its act together with the NAIT 50. The amplifier shows a decent noise floor and reaches its power output with ease. In 4 Ohms we’re around 1% at 40 watts, which is correct. In 8 Ohms it shows just under 30 watts at 1%. That’s also about right. Our advice: get a speaker with a reasonably flat impedance with dipt dat are reasonable. Then you’ll be just fine.
If we do a simple test with added noise and DC, we see that the Naim is not very sensitive to that. Even DC doesn’t do very much; it’s visible, but it certainly doesn’t kill the NAIT 50.
Noise towards the mains is also nicely controlled. Up to 500 KHz we see no switching noise, spikes or other crazy things. The noise toward the mains does increase with power input, but that’s not surprising.
Phase – measured at the speaker output – is tidy for this class. -60 degrees at 5 Hz and 60 degrees at 20 KHz approximately. of course, high-end amplifiers show better values, but for an integrated amplifier in this class: fine.
What would be an example of a good matching pair of speakers be?
Hello Eric. Anything you like, of course. But Neat Acoustics, Audio Physic, Dali, Graham Audio, Elac and some Acoustic Energy speakers are the ones that spring to mind.
This amplifier has enough oomph, but it needs speakers with a rather smooth Ohm curve across the frequency spectrum if the room size is average.
