We again add the Invictus cables one at a time and throw them out after a few weeks. Our Benchmark HPA4 preamplifier has an above-average bandwidth (2 Hz to 500 kHz) and is a wonderful device to test with. It is also a great headphone amplifier, ideal for this test. We are only using CDs this time and have often listened to Jim Hall’s track “Round Midnight” on his CD “Live”. This is to evaluate space, reverb, audience, applause, timbre, placement, bass and soundstage.
The CDs are played on a CEC TL2N transport (€5995) that had just come in. This source is more in proportion to these cables than our Sonnet Hermes
