Measurements and conclusion

Measurements Audio Physic Spark

Looking closely at the measurements, we see a neat response with a very slight elevation in the highs. This is also audible: the speaker is energetic. This character is reflected in the waterfall and energy plot: most of the energy is in the mid and high.

The waterfall shows a clean character. Unfortunately, we cannot grab enough bandwidth in the low end to catch resonances there. However, we can state that the mid and high are free of resonances.

In the impedance measurement and measurement of electrical phase we notice one conspicuity: two kinks between 200 and 300 Hz. Curiously, we also see a bump in distortion there. This is either a resonance or something else. It is not audible, but it is measurable.

All in all, a speaker that does not show anything crazy. However, we are curious what those kinks are now….

Conclusion

The Audio Physic Spark is uncompromising, but without emphasizing flaws in the recording. When something is not quite balanced in the chain they will reveal it, but without make it unbearable. At most, it makes you a little restless, because your hearing perceives everything going on, consciously or unconsciously. When everything is balanced, the Sparks will let you hear music at a quality level that you did not know is achievable with excellent, but not exotic HiFi equipment.

  1. Interesting. Appreciate the clarity and the imaging, but just found this sound sterile and aloof, like it just doesn’t want to get riled up about anything happening in the music. I agree that something is lacking. The test for me now after so much test listening is the Mammal Hands cut. I got up and retrieved a water out of the fridge. The JBL 1600s over the little D Nilai moved me more. So…positive takeaway for this newbie: more money doesn’t necessarily buy you what you want. It pays to pay attention. Thx for making this test available.
