It was an interesting audio/music journey for your author. As you well know, your author doesn’t do much with vinyl. There are all sorts of reasons for that – including convenience and laziness – but fair is fair: vinyl is fun. And it makes you listen to music differently. More intensely. And that’s what it’s all about, isn’t it!
What can we conclude from this mass test of nine pre-amps and some more variations with Sbooster power supplies?
First of all: power supply is everything…. yes: there we go again. But it’s just a fact. Bad power supply = inferior performance.
Then: everything is matching and taste. Your player’s element has to match the pre-amp. So what we experience here does not necessarily go so well or badly in your set-up. However: the signature will match reasonably well, we estimate.
What we mainly want to give is: try it out. Borrow a few pre-amps to experiment with. Learn what you like!
