Now we were already pretty impressed at the 2022 iEAR show. There System Audio gave a demo in a small room to the right of the entrance…. small room, but very big sound!
And so do the System Audio’s here in the cinema room. The playback is generous, big and just…. tasty! Is it completely neutral? No… it certainly isn’t; it tends to be somewhat warm and layed back. But consider the setting in which these speakers will do their duty – TV, movies and music. And with that in mind, that’s a smart and sensible tuning to use. Not all TV programs sound equally good, and if you want to play movies AND music as a system, a decent tonal balance is a must.
Music
We kick off with Gazpacho, the live album, Night of the Demon. We immediately hear the ambiance of the live performance. This recording was made at the Boerderij in Zoetermeer; a relatively smaller venue. That is palpable with this recording and the System Audio’s put that down perfectly. We didn’t expect that! And what’s even more impressive is that the focus remains intact. Voices are remarkably tight and sharp in front of us.
We continue to hear this trend with other music we send wirelessly to the on-walls. Muse Live in Rome, Air, Massive Attack, Porcupine Tree, Nathalie Merchant … it is all projected nicely and generously into the room. Not a shred of irritation or harshness.
TV and film
This is where the System Audio may be even more in their element. The intelligibility is truly excellent! And again, the imaging and space is something that is immediately noticeable. Whether we are watching a simple show or a blockbuster, the System Audio’s put it down wonderfully.
