The new 2025 LG televisions – both OLED and LCD – are saying goodbye to both DTS and Google Assistant.
According to this article from What Hi-Fi, LG is discontinuing support for both DTS and Google Assistant this year. Particularly the end of DTS support might not sit well with movie enthusiasts. After all, DTS is a vital part of the IMAX Enhanced format, which is already available on Disney Plus. However, it seems LG has now fully committed to exclusively supporting Dolby.
As for Google Assistant, the manufacturer has confirmed that it will discontinue this smart assistant starting May 1 of this year – very soon. What will replace it is not officially clear yet, but the linked article hints at an AI chatbot based on Microsoft CoPilot.
In short: small changes – but ones that could be significant for some users – are on the way.
